In 2010, year that is about to begin, we would like to pay homage to the Spiritist Magazine, exactly on January 1st, date on which Kardec, 152 years ago, started his monumental work of monthly publication which is today a invaluable legacy for whole world spiritist movement. It is being currently translated to Spanish by professor Enrique Baldovino. First editions have already been published by EDICEI – International Spiritist Council publishing house. The Spiritist Magazine is a wonderful source of spiritist knowledge, experiences, Allan Kardec’s expressions and concepts, situations of an epoch analyzed in the light of the Spiritist Doctrine, information regarding the growing spiritist movement and other things which enlarge the intellectual and moral fundaments of each studious spiritist. From the Journal of Spiritist Studies – Spiritist Magazine, June 1866 (year IX, number 6), we extracted the last paragraphs of a valuable article “WORK” whose author is Saint Augustin. It was placed by Allan Kardec in this edition, as it is a message of reinforcement for spiritist work and for spiritist workers in each place on our planet. The author tells the following:
Happy New Year to all the spiritists. Let the spiritist work grows, as thanks to it, the fruits of the harvest will multiply. With God, Jesus and Kardec – today, tomorrow and forever Fraternally, Fabio Villarraga ISC South America Coordinator January 1st, 2010 Last Updated ( Tuesday, 05 January 2010 22:48 ) National Spiritist Congress in Spain - December 2009
Spanish Spiritist Federation organized the XVII National Spiritist Congress in Calpe from December 6th till December 8th. The central subject of this congress was: “Life before and after Life”. During the opening ceremony Spanish Spiritist Federation president Salvador Martin delivered his speech greeting all the participants. He was followed by Nestor João Masotti, Secretary-General of International Spiritist Council, who also welcomed the public. The first conference was given by Divaldo Pereira Franco; its subject was in line with the central topic of the congress. Eight members of ISC Executive Commission presented the event and realized an ordinary meeting afterwards. During the congress 12 expositors, members of Spanish spiritist movement, gave their lectures and, at the end of each day, a session of questions and answers and a round table were organized giving place for all the participants to clarify their doubts with the expositors. In the same time, several activities for children and teenagers were realized in the congress place. The event ended with Divaldo Pereira Franco’s seminary “La inmortalidad es el triunfo de la vida” [Immortality is life’s triumph] and with speech given by Antonio Cesar Perri de Carvalho, ISC director who put the emphasis on the Chico Xavier 100th anniversary programme and the Brazilian and international congresses planned for 2010.
